Instructor Testimony

As I prepare for the Title III Conference next week in Washington, DC I have asked  instructors and students for a testimonial of what the Technology Learning Center (TLC) means to them. Here's a testimonial from an instructor:

As someone who is relatively new to the education profession, the Technology Learning Center at Northeast Alabama Community College is an invaluable asset to me. The TLC director and staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Their dedication to their job and their friendliness provide a welcoming, friendly atmosphere in the lab. This allows faculty, staff, and students the feel at ease asking any questions they may have.

Having no background in education, my first few semesters at NACC were very difficult. Mrs. Judith Lea, the director of the TLC proved to be the best ally a new instructor could have. She spent countless hours showing me how to set up my classes using Blackboard. I am sure I wore her patience thin at times, but she was always professional and polite.

In addition to providing support for new instructors, the TLC provides on-going training. Several seminars are held each semester to better equip instructors, faculty, and staff. These seminars cover topics such as Wimba, CourseSmart, and Connect.

To me, one of the greatest benefits of the TLC is their open-door policy. Mrs. Lea is always available, willing, and able to answer any question that I may have. Normally, when a problem or question arises, she drops whatever she may be working on to handle the situation immediately. As an instructor, this is invaluable. Knowing that any problems that may arise will be handled quickly allows me to add new technology to my classes without fear of any long-lasting technical glitches.

Without the TLC, my job would be much more difficult. Knowing that the TLC staff stands ready to assist with any issues, concerns, or questions that I may have makes my job less stressful.
