Six Months and counting

Has it been six months since I posted?  Time is going by so fast and we are so busy in the Technology Learning Center. We have averaged assisting over 600 students a month for the past six months.

I would like to do a little bragging on the TLC tutors.

Tomas is a sophomore and will be graduating in May. He will transfer to the Engineering program at the University of Alabama at Huntsville (UAH). Tomas has a 4.0 at Northeast and has been selected to represent NACC on  the USA All Academic Team. He loves the high level Math and Physics courses. He has talked about returning this summer just to sit in on Dr. Leles physic class that he took under a different instructor while Dr. Leles was out for health reasons. Tomas has been a real asset to the lab and will be missed by many. We wish him the best in his continued studies.

Juana is a level two nursing student and will earn her degree in May as well. She will then be off to take state boards and become a Registered Nurse. Juana has brought so many different facets to the lab. She is a Mother figure and has encouraged and loved on us all at some point in time. She has nervous energy and comes in cleaning. The guys will not get away with leaving candy wrappers lying around with Ms. Juana on duty. She has a kind and tender spirit and all the students love her. She is always dependable and very helpful to all.

Marlene graduated from NACC last May and is now enrolled in the Computer Science Program at Athens State University. We kept Marlene on as a tutor because of her many talents. Marlene loves the computer science field but can also tutor in math, accounting or you just about name it. If she doesn't know the answer she will research it and find it out for you. She loves a challenge and will not be defeated by a programming problem, math problem, or accounting question. We are glad Marlene will remain with us throughout her studies at Athens State.

Not Pictured is Forrest. This has been Forrest inauguration year in the lab. He has grown tremulously. He was never afraid to jump in and help but now he will be taking over the reins when Tomas leaves. Forrest too is an Engineering major and loves those high level math and physics classes. The guys sometimes refer to the TLC as the Man Cave. A place where all the male pre-engineering students gather to ponder and reason out the whys. I am glad Forrest will be with us for another year to train our newcomers. We will bring in one new tutor for summer and then another one for fall.

Transition is hard and life goes by fast. The Technology Learning Center is like an extended family. We work together, we play together, and we always eat together. We eat a lot in the TLC! But we mostly care about each other and wish each other the best life has to offer.
If you are looking for a place to study where you can get a little extra help, attention or food try us out. We are open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 AM-7:00 PM and on Friday from 7:30 AM-Noon. Hope to see you soon!
