"I have used WIMBA for the last three years. WIMBA is a great feature for an instructor's toolbox. Online students are able to see and hear our lectures just like they are in the classroom. Currently, I use WIMBA in my OAD 101 Beginning Keyboarding class. Students watch my presentation entitled "Creating a Signature Line with Your Email Account". The presentation is only five minutes long but walks students through the simple process. For this presentation, I use the audio portion and show the computer screen shots. I use this same presentation each semester and this saves me so much time. Also, the student is less frustrated because they have a "How-to"guide to watch at their convenience.
If I am teaching a lecture class online, I also use WIMBA. I will use the audio and video to tape my lectures. This allows online students to feel like they are part of the class and are connected with others. They see and hear me present the material which makes a difference in the understanding of the subject matter.WIMBA is very user friendly and I would encourage other instructors to experiment with the program."
