Student Testimonies

I have asked two students to share their testimonies of technology with us this week. Please read and share your own personal testimony of what  NACC technology has meant to you in your studies.

Brenda Jones first came to me in the fall of ’09 as a new student needing help with technology. Brenda had lost her job in the textile industry and was a first time freshmen through the WIA program. See her story below:

September 05, 1951 would be my birthday. I graduated from Fort Payne High School 1971. Worked in hosiery mills until being displaced 2009. Decided to attend NACC and study paralegal. Out of school for 38 years would be scary at best. The students and faculty made the transition easy. The technologies that exist today are second to none. Learning to email and communicate with instructors and other staff at NACC has broadened my way of thinking. Blackboard, online computer assistance, really helped to understand and complete my homework. My first semester yielded a 3.5 GPA and my second semester yielded a 3.250 GPA. Not too bad for an ole horse, huh? I am looking forward to my summer semester. Two courses will be at the college and two will be at home online. Wish me luck, come and see what we can learn, this is a great place.

After assisting his wife, Brenda, in getting enrolled in college for the fall semester Jimmy was encouraged by Brenda to return to college himself. Jimmy enrolled in classes in the spring ’09-10. See his story below:
Using the technology as a NACC student has helped with my studies.

Blackboard was not around growing up. Your studies after school meant you and your book. But, with Blackboard your studies are a lot easier. With the movie, the interactive activities, on line instructors make studying go a lot easier. With today’s technology a person, young or elderly, has no excuse for not furthering his or her education.

I am disabled from two back surgeries and my left lung removed.

December 10, 2010 marks my 59th birthday. I became interested in going back to school after watching my wife. She is a displaced working. She is studying the field of paralegal. I decided to attend the spring term. After making two 'A's, two 'C's and one 'B', I have decided to go for the summer round in the comfort of my home.

NACC has it all.
