Training , training and the holidays

Fall 2010 will soon come to an end. The center has been busy with students attending training sesssion on Maintaining your PC, NBC Archives and Resume Writing. The Drafting and Design instructors attended a two hour session on implementing Blackboard into their course of study. The instructors were very excited to learn all the options Blackboard has to offer to enhance their curriculum.

Online registration is now open and students are gearing up for a spring 2011 schedule. If you are not a student at Northeast and have been thinking about attending college or returning to college check out our schedule of classes on the NACC homepage. We have classes day; night; and online. If I can help email me at: leaj@nacc.edu.

In the middle of all the work we found time to decorate a Christmas tree. I love this time of year. If you haven't been to the center; please drop in;  and check us out!

September Report of TLC Activities

As we embarked on a new school year students began to come to the new Technology Learning Center. Two students were placed on work study and serve as lab assistances to enable the center to be open longer hours. For the fall semester we are open until 7:00 on Monday and Tuesday. The September focus was on student involvement. We had 88 students utilize the center services logging over 100 hours of assistants. We offered two workshops on Maintaining your PC for students. At students request another session of the Student Blackboard Orientation was added and held in the center.

Several instructors came to the center for one-on-one assistant with technology in the classroom as well as Blackboard. Instructors brought their classes to the center for instruction on using technology in their course.

Mrs. Julia Everett, Director of the Learning Resource Center conducted two sessions on Reliable Sources for instructor.

Once again the center served as a proctoring environment not only for NACC students but for students from Brigham Young University and Itawamba Community College in Mississippi. The Microsoft Elevate America program ended in September and the final test were given on the 10th.

Twenty-two adjunct instructors have completed their 10 hour technology training and received their stipend.

Student Testimonial

I enjoy coming to the Technology Learning Center. The center is a great place to enhance my educational skills. The center is equipped with 24 inch computer monitors, comfortable desk chairs, a very large work table, and printing capability. I enjoy the quiet, peaceful environment with all the tools necessary to accomplish my educational demands. Judith and Amber assist me often with the many questions I have.

Thank you so much for this advanced technical equipment.
